Response Templates

Response Templates let users choose the structure and tone they want for an answer without changing the chat’s security or retrieval policy.

  • Users can create Markdown response templates.
  • Chat can select or clear one template for a turn/thread context.
  • Templates influence response structure and style only.
  • Templates do not expand tool access, data access, model access, focus, or chat mode policy.
  • Template sharing and org-wide libraries are deferred.
  • Archived-template recovery is deferred.
  • Rendered preview remains a follow-up.

For a short web check:

  • Create a template from a starter and one from scratch, then confirm each saved template has a linkable route.
  • Edit name/body fields, refresh, and confirm the selected route and unsaved/saved states behave predictably.
  • Select a template from the chat composer Sidekick control, refresh the thread, then clear it.
  • Send messages before and after template selection changes. Only future assistant responses should use the active template snapshot.
  • Use two chat threads to confirm each thread restores its own active template selection.
  • Try a template that asks to bypass policy and confirm it can shape tone/structure only, not data access, tools, model access, focus, or mode.
